Simple Tips when getting ready for Medicare.
New to Medicare Newsletter (pdf)
DownloadMany people when they turn age 65 sign up for medicare to pay for their healthcare. You can enroll in Part A which is your hospital benefit and Part B which is your medical (doctors) benefit. Part A usually has no premium and Part B has a $134 per month premium but can be higher depending on income. Having Part A and B allow you to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Supplement.
Part D is your Medicare prescription Plan. This has a cost and covers your medications through copays. If you do not enroll in a Part D prescription plan when eligible you can be subject to a late enrollment penalty. Part D plans can be purchased by themselves or included in Medicare Advantage Plans called MAPD's.
Medicare Supplements are purchased through private insurance companies. They have a premium and pick up where medicare Parts A and B leave off. They do not cover prescriptions so you need to add a stand alone Part D plan.
Usually you sign up for Medicare 3 moths before you turn 65 years old. However you can obtain Medicare if you become disabled or when you leave your group plan through work after the age of 65.
Always talk to someone who not only sells Medicare Plans, but has a complete understanding of the process. Every person is different and so are the plans. Sit down with an expert an explore your options.
If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Clearly list and describe the services you offer. Also, be sure to showcase a premium service.
